Lantern of Hope International Domestic Violence Memorial A Community-Based Art Therapy Project Through the partnership of A Window Between Words, Be A Voice Arts (BAVA), Adrian Fisher Design, Northeastern Consulting Group, LLC., International Domestic Violence Memorial (IDVM), community, artists, engineers, architects, and other professionals alike, a collaborative effort will be made to create a monument that would be dedicated to all of the victims and survivors of domestic violence. The International Domestic Violence Memorial project is committed to the prevention and elimination of sexual and domestic violence through: the creation of a community-based art project(s) which would utilize public spaces to raise awareness, provide education, and promote community resources to help eliminate the various forms of violence such as sexual, coercion and threats, intimidation, emotional abuse, isolation, minimizing, denying, blaming, use of children, privilege, economic abuse, and stalking.

Once you recognize you are in an abusive relationship, what makes you stay stuck there?  What keeps you from leaving that abusive relationship?  Why is it so hard to walk out that door?    This Week 2 discussion will focus on the emotional reasons that victims stay stuck in abusive relationships.  We will explore patterns of thinking that make it hard to leave, emotions that make it hard to leave, learned coping skills that make it hard leave, etc.   We’ll discuss fears, denial, hopelessness, shame, and guilt.  Callers will be welcomed to join and encouraged to actively participate in the discussion.  Your questions and comments will be addressed in the order received.
