Starfrosch: Wheeler - Breeze Blow
Published: 2009-10-09 07:55:46Rough and fresh vocal cut by Wheeler in his totally unique style on the so-called "Turtle Riddim" by the Maffi homeboys, better known from our first Maffi-7" (Mikey Murka's long gone "Downpressor Man"), which is already a rare collector's item by now. "Breeze Blow" was recorded at Swallofield, Kingston, by Selectah Easy T Jam from Esperanza sound during his stay in Jamaica almost a year ago. The ultra-productive posse around Black Warrior, I Bogle, I David, Wildlife, Triple D and - of course - Mr. Wheeler came up with tons of dynamite tracks on loads of fresh riddims during those 4 months, some of them are destined to appear on vinyl soon. Wheeler runs a small shop for beer, juice, ice and cigarettes near the entrance of the Swallofield Ghetto. The lyrics of "Breeze Blow" were created together with Black Warrior and some other singers, who live around Wheeler's place and drop by all the time. Recorded with most minimum equipment and in a 100% yardstyle fashion, this rough and unforgettable tune comes hi- charged with good vibes and nuff green to haunt you for weeks. Sound engeneer for "Nacao Zumbi", Buguinha dub produces in solo (in studio and on stage) an authentic and rough dub where improvisation holds an important place.
The multitrack recordings that are used for the dubs are played by brasilian artists Buguinha dub recorded and produced in various styles (reggae, afrobeat, dancehall, samba).

Published: 2009-04-15 02:43:44The following archive describes a mental malfunction caused by a long period of sleep deprivation. The subject is experiencing temporary breakdowns of the brain’s cognitive system, which lead to hallucination. Although the subject has conscious awareness of the environment, fictitious situations unravel in the subject’s subconscious and intertwine with reality, to the point where they become indistinguishable. Sometimes the subject is under the impression that there’s a presence or movement of other beings in the same space and tries to interact with them. The subject’s reactions suggest that ambient sounds are disproportionally amplified within the brain and a non-existent, low-pitched growl is heard and felt very intensely.

Published: 2009-04-14 17:56:16Since the early days of the label, Fresh Poulp wishes to produce and release a 100% dub compilation. To be part of a planetary dub adventure by presenting an active and international (South America, North Africa, Middle-East, Asia, North America & Europe) display of this vast musical community. This is now done with "Dub Tentacles", the first release in a long series of thematic compilations dedicated to dub music. This first one features a special track from Dubosmium (probably one of the most famous artist from our netlabel) with JSD, singer from Dubzoic (an italian band also part of the album – and future member of Fresh Poulp). Dub Tentacles is a true invitation to travel through music : With enjoyable stops in Brasil, South Korea or Turkey and unexpected calls in Israel, USA, Portugal and even Poland, you'll finish the journey 11 station later in France, with Le Chaudron Magique.
