Conjure One is a Canadian electronic music project, headed by Rhys Fulber, better known as a member of Front Line Assembly and Delerium, as well as other musical groups alongside Bill Leeb. Fulber left Front Line Assembly and thereby all other Leeb-associated projects in early 1997, in pursuit of a solo career. Soon after, a debut album was announced, though Fulber's work as a producer and remixer eventually pushed its release to September 2002. The self-titled album was a fusion of the electronic characteristics of Fulber's previous work -- keyboard-based, with rhythmic dance beats -- and the influences of Middle Eastern music, which inspired ambient melodies more reminiscent of Delerium. A number of songs were more pop-oriented and featured guest vocalists, primarily Poe and Chemda, the latter singing entirely in Arabic. Sinéad O'Connor and Jeff Martin of The Tea Party were also featured.
After a hiatus since February (our apologies) The Surrealcast is back and posting. So plug in the phones and crank up the bass baby!
Shiny Toy Guns is an American indie rock band from Los Angeles, California. The band was founded in 2002 by bassist and keyboardist Jeremy Dawson and vocalist and guitarist Chad Petree. Both had known each other for years growing up in Shawnee, Oklahoma and worked together on previous music projects such as Cloud2Ground and Slyder. After these projects, they went underground for a couple of years but continued making music together until enlisting both vocalist Carah Faye Charnow and drummer Mikey Martin in 2004. The band quickly gained popularity locally in California as well as through their MySpace page. In January 2005, they released their first album We Are Pilots through record company Stormwest International. They began touring across America that summer in support of their album. They re-recorded and re-released We Are Pilots through record company Sidecho in November 2005, with a revised track list. They continued to tour extensively, and in June 2006, after extensive negotiations that had begun in November of 2005, they signed with Universal Records and released a finalized copy of We Are Pilots on October 17, 2006. Shiny Toy Guns' 2005/2006/2007 song "You Are the One" has its roots in Jeremy Dawson's trance song "Neo", put out under his "Slyder" moniker. This song was licensed and approved for usage by the band in the video games Grand Theft Auto III, Burnout Dominator and FIFA 07. On December 6, 2007, We Are Pilots received a Grammy Award nomination in the category of Best Electronic/Dance Album, but lost to the Chemical Brothers.

Cleaner is the name of a German project specializing in electronic music. Formerly known as Cleen and Cleaner, Myer released several albums on the American industrial music record label, Metropolis Records, as well as the labels Zoth Ommog and Accession Records. Cleen began as a side project of Haujobb’s Daniel Myer, who teamed up with vocalist Thorsten Meier for the first few releases, beginning with 1997’s Designed Memories. After the release of their second album, Thorsten Meier left to pursue other interests, and Daniel Myer assumed all musical and vocal duties. For the third release, Solaris, Myer changed the name of Cleen to Cleaner. Cleen, Cleaner, and Clear Vision have often been described as more synthpop oriented than Haujobb. At this time, all of the Cleen and Cleaner releases are out of print. Daniel Myer continues to record with Haujobb and his numerous other projects, including the recently formed Clear Vision, which appears to be another linguistic twist in the Cleen / Cleaner family.
Suicide Commando is the name of a Belgian musical act combining aggrotech with elements of electro-industrial. Johan Van Roy, Suicide Commando's only member, began experimenting with music in 1986. Three years later, he released his first tape under the moniker Suicide Commando, and made an appearance on the vinyl compilation, Electric. As Van Roy continued self-releasing tapes, he landed more compilation appearances on Rotation II and Induktion, Varianz und Deren Folgen, both released by Kugelblitz records. 1994 finally saw Suicide Commando's first CD, Critical Stage, released on the German label Off-Beat. Shortly after in 1995, Suicide Commando released Stored Images, which contains to date one of van Roy's most popular songs, See You in Hell. 1996 was the ten-year anniversary of Suicide Commando, and with it came the release Contamination, as well as the limited boxed version, which contained a bonus 3" compact disc. Contamination was released a year later in North America by the now defunct Electronic Death Trip records. In 1998, Suicide Commando released the album Construct-Destruct and its sister release, Reconstruction including new clubhits like desire and better off dead, the former of which was picked up by Possessive Blindfold Records for distribution in North America with bonus tracks. Van Roy was one of the founders of the Dependent Records label in 1999. It was on this new label that Suicide Commando's next releases, two singles and one EP: Hellraiser, Comatose Delusion, and Love Breeds Suicide, accompanied Suicide Commando's 2000 release, Mindstrip, reached the number one spot on the Deutsche Alternative Charts. It was at this time that Metropolis Records began releasing Suicide Commando in North America. For Suicide Commando's next release, Axis of Evil, a special edition double single called Face of Death was released beforehand, selling out in two days. The regular edition of the single continues to sell, and Axis of Evil was voted album of the year (2003) by the Deutsche Alternative Charts.
De/Vision is a German synthpop musical group. The band started as a quartet consisting of Thomas Adam, Steffen Keth, Stefan Blender, and Markus Ganssert. They formed the band in 1988. The name De/Vision is a play on words. The majority of the band's lyrics are in English, but they have had some songs in German. Markus left the band in 2000. In the same year Steffen started a side project as the vocalists with Green Court, called 'Green Court featuring De/Vision'. The band with remaining members Thomas Adam and Steffen Keth is currently signed to Drakkar Records in Europe and Dancing Ferret Discs in North America. Since 1994 the band has released a new studio album of original material every 1.5 years.
Diary of Dreams is a German electronic goth and darkwave music group. The lead singer and founding member Adrian Hates has produced most of the albums by himself or with minimal help from others. He rarely uses a full band, except when he is on tour. The early works Cholymelan and End Of Flowers are both darkwave albums. Shortly after the turn of the millennium, the music integrated more techno and futurepop influences. This would be an example of the latter variety. http://www.diaryofdreams.de/ http://www.myspace.com/diaryofdreams www.myspace.com/thesurrealcast
By far the best mix of these two favorite songs of mine . Rumor has it that this track was an MTV Mash-Up featured on the show by the same name. While MTV still sucks, this is definately a stroke of pure genius.
