Audio mixing is used for sound recording, audio editing, and sound systems to balance the relative volume, frequency, and dynamic content of a number of sound sources. Typically, these sound sources are the different musical instruments in a band or vocalists, the sections of an orchestra, announcers and journalists, crowd noises, and so on.

Another example is mixing two records together. Break beats are created by mixing between identical breaks. Often the end of one pre-recorded song is mixed into another so that the transition is seamless, which is done through beat-matching or beat-mixing, and possibly pitch control.

Shutting Down Airports

posted: 1 day, 10 hours, 52 minutes, 3 seconds ago

I saw you in the hall today
Don't know why you didn't say
"I know that I am dead."

It was 20 years ago
That I saw you alone
Lying in your bed

And I sing to you

Singing 'bout life's force
and shutting down airports
and blowing up cars in the day

You mocked the milestones
and passed your own gravestone
but still you get in the way

Some come from cartoons
and I draw from Khartoum
but the sun is dieing today

I'm financing war dreams
and gelatin hair skeems
and your stars of today

Editing a movie can be referred to as tailoring a movie. Just as people don’t want to wear ill-fitting clothes, similarly no viewer is ready to see an unedited movie. An unedited movie is not compact, brief or tight, so it does not lure the spectators. The art of editing a movie means arrangement of shots according to an understandable viewpoint so that the viewers can derive aesthetic pleasure.

In cinema, generally two techniques are followed, viz., mise-en-scene and montage. Mise-en-scene refers to the composition part of movie making or in other words, whatever is being shot with the single switch-on of the camera till the single switch-off of the camera. Whereas, the editing style and technique are known as montage.

Dutch Disaster

posted: 5 days, 9 hours, 35 minutes, 44 seconds ago

(Unknown French footage)

In 1953, the Dutch were once again confronted with the power of the sea. The colossal disaster happened on February the 1st. It was to be one of the biggest floods in the history of the Netherlands.
Aside from the poor condition of the many dikes in the Delta area, the flood was largely due to an unfortunate combination of climatic circumstances.
A hurricane moved towards the Netherlands, which, at that moment, had a high tide. The high tide was intensified by the hurricane's influence and in some places within the Netherlands, water began to run over the dikes.
The flood disaster of 1953 eventually led to the understanding that the condition of the dikes needed to be improved at last.
In August 1953, the Delta committee gave advice for the restoration of which dikes needed to be repaired most urgently: the dike of Schouwen and the moveable storm surge barrier in the Dutch IJssel
Meanwhile, volunteers and dike workers worked to close the gaps in the dikes. Within a week, 30,000 volunteers had registered to help repair the dikes. The Ministry of Waterways and Public Works led the restoration works, which was financed by the government.

You press a lever or rocker to zoom in or out. This lever controls the lens mechanism inside the camera. Usually, the harder you press on the lever the quicker the zoom. Some camcorders have only one zoom speed whereas others allow you to zoom manually by turning a ring on the lens. A zoom lens gives you the option of having both telephoto and wide-angle lens in one camera. You use the telephoto lens when you zoom in, bringing objects closer to you. There is less visible area around your subject, and distant objects are compressed. Zooming the lens out gives you the wide-angle shot and more of your subject and surrounding areas are visible. Depth perception is also changed, and the size and distance between objects is more pronounced.
